About the event
As February is also National Prevent a Litter Month and National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, one of the first veterinary appointments that all families who have welcomed a new feline into their heart and home should make is to have their cat altered. Along with helping to ‘fix’ the issue of pet overpopulation, sterilization can also help to stop spraying, curbs a cat’s urge to prowl, and can aid in the prevention of certain cancers.
Spaying and neutering also adds to the longevity of our purring pals and barking buddies, with dogs living an average of 1 to 3 years longer and cats 3 to 5 years more by reducing the risk of certain cancers, the American Veterinary Medical Association reports.
To find a spay/neuter clinic in your area, check out the Spay/Neuter Locator provided by PetSmart Charities and the ASPCA.
